Nate Diaz is back.

At UFC 230 at Madison Square Garden in New York, one of the most anticipated returns in mixed martial arts will occur, as after two years away from the sport, Nate Diaz will face Dustin Poirier. The LA Times first reported the news.

The fight will no doubt have huge title implications, with the winner potentially moving on to face the winner of the rumoured Conor McGregor vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov bout.

The contest is believed to be made official later today at a press conference in Los Angeles. It will be the first time Diaz has participated in a UFC bout since his loss to Conor McGregor at UFC 202.

During his feud with McGregor, Diaz became one of the most popular fighters on the roster, and while UFC president Dana White had repeatedly said the promotion couldn’t find a bout to interest him, it seems they’ve finally got a deal done that has the Stockton native happy to fight again.
