Makwan Amirkhani will make his return to the octagon after more than a year on the sidelines on May 27th after it was confirmed that the Finn will face Jason Knight at the UFC’s debut event in Liverpool.

Amirkhani (13-3), who has recently been training under the tutelage of John Kavanagh at SBG Ireland, was last seen in the UFC on March 18th of last year where he lost a close split decision to Arnold Allen. That loss ended Amirkhani’s run of three straight UFC wins since he joined the organisation, one of which was an 8-second KO of another British fighter, Andy Ogle.

Knight (20-4) comes into the bout on the back of two straight losses and owns a 4-3 record in his UFC tenure thus far. In his last fight, a loss to Gabriel Benitez in December, Knight was deducted a point for biting his opponent’s fingers.

UFC Liverpool, or UFC Fight Night 130 if you’re the overly officious type, is the organisation’s first trip to the city and will be headlined by local favourite Darren Till against an opponent yet to be determined.
