One of the finest featherweights in history is heading back to the Octagon.
Former WEC and UFC champion Jose Aldo, once the owner of a decade-long unbeaten streak in mixed martial arts, will return to the cage to fight Aiemann Zahabi — the younger brother of Tristar Gym head trainer Firas Zihabi — in a bantamweight showdown at UFC 315 on May 8 in Montreal, Canada.
Aldo, 38, last competed in October where he was defeated by Mario Bautista in what was a split decision in Salt Lake City, Utah. The fight came following a 4-1 run for Aldo which had included wins over well-regarded fighters like Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera and Rob Font.
Zahabi, meanwhile, is 12-2 in his career and is currently on a run of five straight wins, including a career best win over Pedro Munhoz this past November.
UFC 315 is set to be headlined by a welterweight title bout between champion Belal Muhammad and top contender Jack Della Maddalena, while in the co-main women’s flyweight champ Valentina Shevchenko defends her 125-pound crown against the 12-1 French fighter Manon Fiorot.
