Eight years and 17 victories into his UFC career, newly-crowned UFC interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier has officially landed among the sport’s elite.
Poirier’s five-round back-and-forth classic in the UFC 236 headliner last weekend saw him before the first man since Conor McGregor in 2013 to earn a ‘W’ against the Hawaiian featherweight king, solidifying interim UFC gold and a future date with Khabib Nurmagomedov — but not only that, it has catapulted him into the UFC’s official top ten P4P list.
Poirier jumps into the category in 8th position ahead of undisputed UFC champions Robert Whittaker and Rose Namajunas. Max Holloway, meanwhile, falls a place from 4th to 5th.
