In a sudden back and forth that not many anticipated, the hench Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson and Paulo Costa appear to be engaged in a war of words.

It appears to stem from comments Johnson made on a podcast with Mike Swick about Costa’s attitude following his loss to middleweight champion Israel Adesanya at UFC 253. Johnson felt that, considering the performance Costa turned in that night, to demand an immediate rematch was something the Brazilian should have been too embarrassed to do.

“I was like ‘Dude, you were the one talking so much and then he gets you at the end and now you mad? Because he embarrassed you? Come on man, grow some balls. Man up to that.’ It is what it is,” Johnson said. “You can’t demand a rematch either after a performance like that either. That’s not smart. That’s not gonna sell for sure.”

In response, Costa fired off a tweet simply telling Johnson to stay quiet, writing, “Anthony Rumble Johnson shut up moron you even don’t know which weight class you should fight.”

That, in turn, drew a longer, sterner response from the former light heavyweight contender, who is preparing to return to the Octagon after retiring in 2017.

“I don’t do the talking back and forth but the last BBC you did that to fucked your ass at the end DOGGY STYLE. Now your name is LOOSE BOOTY. You must want missionary next by me? I respect you but make sure you know your role… I’m not the 1 kid,” wrote Johnson.
