Alex Pereira is a problem for anyone at 205-pounds.

The Brazilian former UFC middleweight champion made a successful debut at light heavyweight in Salt Lake City last weekend, defeating former champion Jan Blachowicz by split decision in a division currently in a state of flux after its two most recent champions, Jiri Prochazka and Jamahal Hill, were both forced to relinquish their crowns after suffering non-fight injuries (even if Hill is still listed as champion).

But after his maiden win at 205, Pereira has already stepped ahead of several of the his peers in the rankings ladder, after the official list was released online following Saturday night’s event.

Hill, as mentioned, is still at the summit of the list, with Prochazka listed as the number one contender. In second spot is Magomed Ankalaev, while Pereira lands in third position, skipping ahead of 12 other fighters in the list.
