At the O2 Arena in London, Katie Taylor continued her assault on women’s boxing, as she defended her IBF & WBA World female Lightweight titles in dominant fashion against American Kimberly Connor.

As usual, Taylor’s blistering combos and effective body work left her opponent struggling to get a foot in the fight, with Taylor’s lead left hook landing repeatedly early on. While in the second, a clash of heads gave Taylor a new problem in the shape of a swollen right eye, the Irishwoman turned up the pressure in the third to force a referee step in.

Taylor’s record improved to 10-0 with the win.

“It was good, Kimberly was very tough fight,” Taylor said, speaking post-fight. “I just happened to catch her with a good shot, stayed composed and got a good finish in the end.”

Taylor will now move on to face Cindy Serrano later this year, eyeing more world titles.

“That’s always been the plan. I got two belts, I’ve got two more to go,” she said. “I’m improving all the time, I got a great team around me, I’m in the best shape of my life, best form of my life.”
