Mike Tyson is fully confident of victory as he approaches his first professional boxing match in nearly two decades on Friday night.
Tyson, 58, once the youngest heavyweight champion in boxing history, will enter the ring in Texas on Friday night to face Jake Paul, a man more than 30 years his junior — but despite the age gap, the legendary knockout artist has pledged to roll back the clock and claim the 45th knockout win of his legendary career.
“I’m just ready to fight,” Tyson said at the pre-fight press conference on Wednesday, refusing to be drawn into a back-and-forth with YouTube star Paul. “I’ve said everything I had to say. There’s nothing else to say. I’m just looking forward to fighting.”
For his part Paul, who is 10-1 in his brief boxing career to date, said that due to the power that both possess in their fists he doesn’t expect the fight to reach a final bell in the bout scheduled for eight two-minute rounds.
But if that’s the case, Tyson made clear who he believes will be on their back staring up at the lights: “I’m not going to lose. I am not going to lose. Did you hear what I said?”
Mike Tyson fights Jake Paul late on Friday night on Netflix live from the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The highly-anticipated rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano will also take place on the card.
