Tyson Fury says he plans to invite US president Donald Trump to lead his ringwalk when he faces Anthony Joshua at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on December 11.
Fury and Joshua are set to meet in their long-awaited all-British heavyweight clash, with the former world champion now considering bringing Trump into his entourage for the occasion. Fury met the US president at UFC Freedom 250 at the White House in June after his travel ban to the United States was lifted.
“I’ll definitely make that offer to my old buddy, old pal, and we’ll see if he’s available,” said Fury, via the BBC. “Probably unlikely because of the situation he’s in at the moment, being the President of the United States.”
Fury, 38, also made clear that he does not view the Joshua fight as the end of his career, instead describing the bout as preparation for another meeting with Oleksandr Usyk. The Ukrainian handed Fury both of his professional defeats during their two fights in 2024 and remains unbeaten through 25 professional contests.
“This is a bum to me and I can guarantee that on the night, when I knock him spark out, he won’t know what time it is. And then I want the rabbit [Usyk] in New York City,” said Fury. The Briton said he has “no intention” of retiring following the Joshua bout and described the contest as a “warm-up for Usyk”.
“This year will be the most active year for me since 2018,” said Fury. “I’ve done 12 rounds with a 6ft 8in Arslanbek Makhmudov and I’ve done seven rounds with another 6ft 7in behemoth in Mariusz Wach. Let’s not pull any punches here. I’m firing on all cylinders at the moment. I feel fantastic. I’m 38 years young.”
