Conversations over holding the rubber match between Katie Taylor and Chantelle Cameron in the spiritual home of Irish sport are progressing, according to Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn.

The viability of holding a high profile fight featuring Ireland’s most successful boxer in history in Croke Park has been a consistent narrative over the past few years. Taylor, who has fought just twice professionally in her home country, is one-apiece in her series with Northampton’s Chantelle Cameron — with both of those fights having taken place in the 3Arena in Dublin’s docklands.

And speaking to Ariel Helwani on Monday’s edition of The MMA Hour, Hearn said that discussions are progressing to possibly hold their third fight in the 82,000 capacity stadium in north Dublin.

“We’ve been in conversations with Croke [Park],” Hearn told Helwani. “They’re moving in the right direction. I think that’s a good thing to say without getting too excited. We’re going to speak to Chantelle Cameron’s team. Obviously, Amanda Serrano fights March 2nd on DAZN. Chantelle Cameron is the fight I think that Katie would like. It’s the fight that the fans would like. 1-1 — two tremendous fights.

“So we’ll see if we can get it made. I think it’s the right fight for both, but we still got a deal to be done. We’ll be be doing everything we can to see if we can make Taylor-Cameron at Croke Park.”

Serrano, whom Taylor defeated back in April 2022, also remains a viable opponent for Taylor but, as Hearn said, with both Taylor and Cameron being the only fighters to have defeated one another in professional competition, a trilogy bout appears to be the most likely avenue for each boxer’s next move.
