Jon Jones career at heavyweight has been a brief one.
Jones, 37, remains in an exclusive club of fighters who have held titles in two weight divisions in the UFC but his sole heavyweight fight to date — which came around 18 months ago against Ciryl Gane — lasted just over two minutes before he sunk in the fight-ending guillotine choke, before taking what would ultimately be an extended hiatus after sustained a pectoral injury while preparing for his originally-scheduled fight with Miocic a year ago.
As such, it is difficult to form a proper impression of Jones’ heavyweight abilities — at least compared to Miocic, who remains out in front of the field when it comes to the most successful title defences in the division’s history (3).
