This one didn’t quite go down as planned.
SBG Ireland light heavyweight Johnny Walker was in pursuit of his fourth-straight win in the UFC’s shark-tank light heavyweight division in Abu Dhabi in October when those plans were waylaid — perhaps temporarily — by an illegal knee delivered by Magomed Ankalaev. After some initial confusion, a UFC doctor ruled that Walker was unable to continue; a decision which didn’t go down well with either fighter, and came close to launching a post-fight brawl which resulted in UFC CEO Dana White entering the cage to act as peacemaker.
Both men will rematch this Saturday night in the UFC’s Apex facility outside of Las Vegas, where it will be hoped that the bout has a more standard and less controversial conclusion.
