Bobby Green says that Paddy Pimblett most certainly doesn’t want a piece of him.
Green, the UFC lightweight who faces Jalin Turner in this Saturday’s UFC co-main event fight in Austin, Texas was questioned by the media, including The Mac Life, on Wednesday evening, with one questioned directed his way centred around a comment made by Pimblett in which he said that he would be interested in a fight with the UFC veteran down the line.
Green, though, suggested this would be a bad move for the Liverpudlian former Cage Warriors champion — but added that if Pimblett gets past Tony Ferguson at next month’s UFC 296 card in Las Vegas, then maybe they can talk.
“There’s no way he called me out,” Green said on Pimblett. “Paddy know that’s a bad fight for him. He don’t want that. He’s just talking. He’s just talking, OK? Until he starts walking, get through Tony [Ferguson], and we’ll talk. We’ll talk after that. But Paddy don’t want that. It would be a bad fight for him.”
Green, who defeated Ferguson by arm-triangle submission earlier this year as part of El Cucuy’s ongoing six-fight skid in the organisation, also said that he’s back to the UFC veteran to get back into the win column when he fights Pimblett on December 16 in what is the Englishman’s first fight in a year after spending time on the sidelines due to an ankle injury.
“I feel like Tony’s going to probably pull something close to the third – closer to that second, third round,” said Green. “He pushes a good pace. He comes really hard and takes good shots, so if Paddy doesn’t get him on the ground and tries to do some jiu-jitsu, I see Tony getting him. Tony hits pretty goo too.”
