With a little over three weeks remaining until the UFC’s next pay-per-view event, UFC 255 on November 21, Mike Perry is hoping that the UFC can arrange for a short-notice opponent for him after former welterweight champion Robbie Lawler was forced to withdraw through injury — and ‘Platinun’ has added his name to the growing list of fighters calling for a bout with Khamzat Chimaev.

Perry and Lawler were expected to fight on the upcoming card next month but Perry revealed on Twitter Wednesday afternoon that Lawler has withdrawn from the fight and that he was issuing a challenge to Chimaev, a fighter who has been aggressively calling out opponents across two weight classes since making his UFC debut on ‘Fight Island’ this past summer.

There is a problem, however. Chimaev is understood to have agreed to a December fight with Leon Edwards which would almost certainly rule him out of any November fight with Perry, given the UFC’s reluctance to book a fighter to two bouts simultaneously.

Regardless of who it ends up being against, Perry will come into his next fight following a unanimous decision win against Mickey Gall. Soon after, Perry was involved in an altercation at a Texas restaurant of which footage quickly circulated on social media. The UFC implored Perry to seek “professional treatment” and soon booked him for November’s UFC 255 card.
