While some fight fans will no doubt question as to how exactly an online feud between two YouTubers developed into not one but two sold-out boxing matches, the latter of which had world champion fighters like Billy Joe Saunders on the undercard, both KSI and Logan Paul’s motivations for it are crystal clear after their disclosed pay was announced in the wake of last Saturday’s fight.
After a draw in the first match last year which took place under an amateur ruleset, the training wheels came off inside the Staples Centre through six sometimes wild and often sloppy six-round contest eventually won by the UK’s KSI (55-56, 57-54, 56-55).
Paul’s loss will presumably be a little easier to digest given that both he and KSI (making their professional debuts, remember) earned more in disclosed pay than anyone else on the card, with both taking home $900,000 per official documentation from the California State Athletic Commission. By comparison, Billy Joe Saunders earned $750,000 disclosed for his WBC title defence on the undercard.
Logan Paul and KSI will each earn $900,000 guaranteed on Saturday for their fight at Staples Center, per the CSAC.

However, both KSI and Logal Paul will likely have taken home a seven-figure sum as the disclosed pay total doesn’t account for additional revenues associated to broadcast, PPV distribution and sponsorships.
Even with ancillary additions to their payslips, both men’s purses pale in comparison to that of Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez who earned a gargantuan $35 million for his recent win against Sergey Kovalev. As big as that sum is, it still falls well below the ‘Billion Dollar fight’ between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather in 2017 which saw both men rake in record-breaking fight purses.
