Demetrious Johnson is, without dispute, the best flyweight mixed martial artist to ever compete.

His recent signing to ONE Championship, where he was essentially traded with undefeated welterweight Ben Askren, has ended Mighty Mouse’s record-breaking run in the UFC. According to numerous sources, the UFC are strongly considering shutting down their flyweight division in the wake of Johnson’s exit — a move which Conor McGregor apparently doesn’t appreciate.

In a social media missive issued on Thursday afternoon, McGregor called on ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong to sign the fighters who will lose out as a result of the weight class being killed.

Several fighters from the flyweight frame will transition to the 135-pound division, but logistics dictate that many of those who had a home in the UFC’s smallest (male) weight class will be looking for another home.

And McGregor says that the onus is on ONE Championship to provide it.
