It looks like Tony Ferguson could be in action on the same night as Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov, meaning UFC 229 may feature the top three lightweights in the world.
As first reported by MMAJunkie, the UFC are set to announce Ferguson vs. Anthony Pettis for the October 6 card. It marks Ferguson’s return after suffering a gruesome knee injury earlier this year. He currently rides a 10 fight winning streak.
The news also confirms recent UFC president Dana White comments. Shortly after announcing McGregor vs. Nurmagomedov — likely the biggest fight in UFC history — White confirmed he’d ideally like to include ‘El CuCuy’ on the same card as the pair, no doubt with plans for future match-ups.
