What can even be said. Tonight at UFC 216, Demetrious Johnson defended his title for the eleventh time, and in doing so broke Anderson Silva’s record for the most consecutive title defences in history.
But he didn’t just win the fight. From the very first bell, Johnson dominated Borg. Winning every exchange, be it in the striking, the clinch or the grappling, Johnson showed himself to be several tiers above his opponent.
The real madness, though? Johnson saved that for the finish.
In the fifth round, Johnson took Borg’s back, hit a suplex and in mid-air transitioned to an armbar to get the submission victory. Words fail to do it justice.
