Sage Northcutt is ready to return to the octagon.
It was announced today that Sage Northcutt will face Claudio Puelles in a lightweight bout at UFC 214. The 21-year-old Northcutt, who is a product of Dana White’s ‘Lookin’ For A Fight’ web series, last faced fellow prospect Mickey Gall last December in a welterweight bout — a fight which he lost by second round submission.
Northcutt, 3-2 in the UFC, is ready to return to action following surgery last month to remove his tonsils.
Peruvian fighter Puelles, also 21 years old, dropped his UFC debut to Martin Bravo in November leaving him 7-2 overall as a pro. Four of Puelles’ wins have come as a result of submission. Notably, of the two losses on Northcutt’s record both have been as a result of submission though his first defeat — another second round tap out — was also contested at welterweight. Thus far in his ten fight professional career, Northcutt is undefeated at 155-pounds.
