On Saturday, Brad Pickett will make the walk to a UFC cage for the very last time in his career.
Pickett, the grandson of a bare knuckle boxer, meets Marlon Vera in his final MMA bout in front of his countrymen this weekend, capping an incredible career which has seen ‘One Punch’ capture domestic titles as well as high profile wins in the WEC and the UFC. Perhaps most notably, Pickett is one of just two men to hold a victory over flyweight supremo Demetrious Johnson.
The fact that Pickett’s final MMA bout comes in the same city where he kicked off his career 13 years ago (where he won a 17 second TKO incidentally) is a fitting tribute to one of UK MMA’s stalwarts.
See below for some highlights from the career of a fighter Dan Hardy describes as “never being in a dull fight”.
