Tyron Woodley and Stephen Thompson are at it again.

Following their majority draw at UFC 205 all signs pointed towards an immediate rematch between the two but as time has gone on, and as Woodley seemingly investigates a myriad of options for his next title defense, the title picture remains unclear in the 170-pound fold.

As reported by Ariel Helwani, the UFC wants Woodley vs. Thompson II to be part of their upcoming UFC 209 card in Las Vegas in early March but with Woodley the latest UFC champion chasing ‘money fights’ with Nick Diaz, Michael Bisping and even Conor McGregor it’s beginning to look like a second clash with Thompson is of little interest to the world’s welterweight champion.

In an attempt to kickstart things, Thompson took to Twitter overnight to show a picture of the bout agreement he has signed for his second crack at the champion — but that too seems to have fallen on deaf ears.

Their social media exchange wasn’t to end there. The back and forth continued, with Woodley claiming that he beat Thompson fair and square in their first bout and, after Thompson declared he will see Woodley at UFC 209, the champion’s riposte was that he would give Demian Maia the title shot instead.

Where does this leave us? If you recall, Tyron Woodley was dragging his heels about accepting the first Wonderboy fight too and had already inquired about ‘money fights’ with the likes of Nick Diaz and Georges St-Pierre in the weeks after he won the welterweight title from Robbie Lawler.

Isn’t this what we have matchmakers for?
