Once again UFC officials are scrambling in the eleventh hour to fill a gap on an upcoming card.

As first reported by MMAJunkie’s John Morgan, Thiago Alves has withdrawn from this weekend’s UFC Fight Night 116 co-featured bout in Pittsburgh.

No official comment has yet been made as to the reasoning of Alves’ inability to fight this weekend.

Alves won his return bout to the welterweight division last April when he beat Patrick Cote at UFC 210 after an unsuccessful transition to the lightweight division say the Brazilian miss weight and lose a decision to Jim Miller at UFC 205 in New York City last November.

Perry,  meanwhile, rebounded from the first defeat of his career last December against Alan Jouban with a second round knockout of veteran Jake Ellenberger at UFC Nashville in April.

As per Morgan’s report, the UFC will attempt to find a replacement to take on Perry this weekend.

UFC Fight Night 116 is headlined by Luke Rockhold vs. Dave Branch and also features Hector Lombard vs. Anthony Smith, as well as highly-touted fighters Gregor Gillespie and Karmaru Usman.
