The UFC have announced details of their first event in Singapore in more than three years.

UFC Fight Night Singapore will take place on June 17th next at the 12,000 capacity Singapore Indoor Stadium in what is a considerable upgrade in capacity from the organisation’s prior venture into the market which drew just over 5,000 fans to the Marina Bay Sands Resort & Casino for an event headlined by Tarec Saffiedine vs. Hyun Guy Lin.

As per UFC Senior Vice President of International Business Joe Carr, this will be the company’s first Asian show of 2017.

A statement released by the UFC said: “We are very excited to kick off our 2017 Asia event calendar with UFC Fight Night Singapore. Singapore is the home of our Asia headquarters and as such has always been a key market in our strategy to grow the UFC brand and the sport of MMA in the ASEAN region.”

The UFC have been absent from the Asian region since 2015, though a recent card in the Philippines was cancelled when headliner BJ Penn withdrew through injury.

No fights have yet been announced by the UFC for the card but you can expect those to begin rolling out in the coming weeks.
