Much has been made of Conor McGregor’s recent trip to Las Vegas. While the journey was ostensibly to meet with Nevada Athletic commission to discuss an appeal to the fine imposed upon him for his part in the UFC 202 pre-fight press conference fracas with Nate Diaz last August, it also opened the doors to McGregor’s pursuit of a bout with Floyd Mayweather.

McGregor settling his business with the NAC would allow him to apply for a boxing license in the state where Mayweather has held his last 13 boxing matches (owing to the state offering attractive tax benefits for fighters) and it was thought meetings between McGregor’s and Mayweather’s camp might take place to discuss the hightly touted match-up between the two.

According to McGregor however, Mayweather was nowhere to be found.

Speaking to TMZ, the UFC lightweight champion said: “Floyd’s a bitch and he’s petrified. I flew to Las Vegas and he didn’t show his face. As soon as I touched down in Las Vegas he retired twice.”

McGregor added that several developments have taken place with regard to the fight in the last couple of days and that the reporter should “brush up” on developments.
