‘Platinum’ Mike Perry is having a tough time ahead of hitting the scales ahead of the Friday’s weigh-in window closing in advance of his UFC 255 bout with Tim Means this weekend.
Perry, a longtime member of the welterweight division, has detailed on Twitter that he is having trouble hitting the 171-pound mark required for non-title welterweight fights — and has gone so far as to suggest that this may lead to him retiring from the sport.
Perry is set to fight UFC veteran Means on Saturday in a fight which could mark his second straight win in the UFC following this summer’s unanimous decision win against Mickey Gall. ‘Platinum’ hit a few headlines in recent months after opting to having his girlfriend, Latory Gonzalez, as the sole member of his corner team. Perry later announced an online auction to be a part of his corner, with the likes of Darren Till and porn star Kendra Lust supposedly entering, but the Perry-Gonzalez ticket is a solo one.
And judging by Perry’s tweets early Friday, the cut has been far from ideal.

So easy for people to sit there and say shit but I swear I feel like anyone saying I’m weak for this doesn’t cut weight. It’s death to me. I’m dying already and have 6 more lbs to go. I know it doesn’t sound like a lot but it’s harder than the first 14.
