If you don’t ask, you don’t get.

‘The Russian Hammer’ Artem Lobov, fresh from a spirited showing in the main event of UFC Nashville opposite top featherweight contender Cub Swanson, has an idea of who he would like to face next inside the octagon — and it appears that the feeling is mutual.

When pressed by Ariel Helwani on a recent edition of The MMA Hour about who he would like to face next in the UFC, Lobov said that he is targeting a bout with the hugely entertaining ‘Korean Superboy’ Doo Ho Choi.

“He was one of the guys that I called out originally”, Lobov said to Helwani of Choi last month. “It was either him or Cub. Now we both lost to Cub, the two of us both went the distance, the two of us both got the Fight of the Night, so why not? It makes sense, no?”

Choi hasn’t competed since his Fight of the Year candidate against Swanson and Lobov has made it clear on several occasions that, as he showed against Swanson, he favours the type of walk-forward-and-bite-down-on-your-mouthpiece style of fight that the Korean would likely bring with him to the cage.

It appears that the message has been heard loud and clear by Choi and his camp. As per Robin Black’s Twitter, Choi has said that he wants Lobov “as soon as possible” and has suggested a July date. The Korean slugger has also posted an image of himself and Lobov to his Instagram account accompanied simply by the word “yes”.

When contacted for comment this afternoon by TheMacLife.com, Lobov replied in typical fashi0n. “The Russian Hammer fears no one”, he said of Choi.

“Come and get it”.
