Katie Taylor’s first professional world title bout is set.

The Bray native will challenge two-weight world champion Anahi Esther Sanchez (17-2) for the WBA world lightweight title on the undercard of Anthony Joshua’s first world title defence against Kubrat Pulev on October 28th. The news was confirmed by Taylor’s promoter Eddie Hearn on Monday afternoon.

The 26-year-old Sanchez has suffered defeat twice in the super-featherweight division in the last year, though moved up in weight to capture the WBA world lightweight belt last weekend. Her first defence of that strap will come in 6 weeks time against the 6-0 Taylor, a former European, world and Olympic champion.

The bout will be featured live on Sky Box Office on Oct. 28th.
